  • ADVENTURES WITH A (DYING) DOG

    1.21.15-I-Took-My-Dying-Dog-on-a-Bucket-List-Adventure1-590x442

This one made me weepy this morning. Girl finds out her bestfriend and roommate -- a 160-lb English Mastiff has terminal bone cancer and only has a few months to live. So armed with a bucket list of adventures she would like to share with her dog, they go off on canoe rides, road trips, visits to both busy spots and quiet spaces and, finally, spend a last day together by the ocean in Maine, where she finally finds peace and acceptance. This is real love, people.
  • THE HEALING POWERS OF KEEPING A JOURNAL

    N-JOURNALING-large570

I still keep a journal despite having a blog. No matter how spill-all-my-guts-out open I may seem, there are many things I do and think that I'll just never tell. I've always thought it kept me sane to be able to express myself without fear of being censored or criticized. Whenever I pick up an old journal, even one from my 13-year-old self I realize that as much as I've changed so much is still the same. I just know how to dodge bullets faster and better. • WRITING YOUR WAY TO HAPPINESS

    20WELL-articleLarge

Which is why I've decided to keep this blog around, at least for a little while longer. I've always picked up a pen (or sat in front of a keyboard) any time I needed to make sense of my world; writing allows me to get into my head and get all my thoughts out without having to worry about how ridiculous I sound (that's where the editing comes in). • HOW TO BECOME A WRITER
This was lovely. The post is by a novelist who was asked how to encourage a young writer. It sounds eerily like the story of my life -- now all I need is to keep reading and keep writing (and, okay, start submitting). From: M Molly Backes' blog, 07/12/11
  • THE "PERFECT" FEMALE BODY

    Greatist_body

Every day at work I see all kinds of female bodies: athletic, boyish, curvy, voluptuous, natural, enhanced, preteen, post-baby, postmenopausal -- thousands of different bodies I've seen up close and personal in my lifetime. This infographic shows that the description of the ideal female body changes every decade or so, going back hundreds of years. I hope that soon we define the "perfect" body as one that is simply healthy and functioning; that what matters is that we're comfortable in our own skin. From: Greatist, 01/15/15

gigi..u where here pala?

BatJay, Ang Kaskasero

bwehehehehehehehehe...

it would have been funny if that slow driving pinoy was me. unfortunately, i don't drive slow. ngyehehe.

sige na nga. i drive a black crv. uy schedule na natin ang meeting natin. are you busy anytime during the end of the week? thursday, friday? labor day weekend? i'll call.

Gigi

Hi Jove -- OO nga, I was there for about 10 days. Time really flies while I'm there; as soon as I've acclimated I'm gone.:(

Hello Batjay -- That's what I told hubby nga -- I doubted you were the pagong kind of driver.
But I still had to make sure. Baka pokpokin mo pa ang ulo niya the first time we all meet up. Anyway, if we don't get to see each other this weekend, I'll just show up at your apartment (hala, stalker pala ako!). :)

BatJay, Ang Kaskasero

teka muna... did you show him the latest picture of me dressed in drag? i might be the guy he saw, you know.

i just arrived from the DMV office at santa ana for my behind the wheel test. the instructor said i had a lot of errors. gardenget.

Gigi

Hi Batjay! I just emailed you. :)

dexie

what is it with Men and road rage? hay naku.

LOL, muntik na ha. buti na lang wrong filipino..lol

Gigi

Hi Dexie - I ask myself the same question over and over again! I swear, my husband is a really nice, easy-going guy -- but then get him behind a wheel, and his extremely short-tempered, aggressive alter ego emerges. I don't understand it at all.

mell

batjay relocated in the OC!!!??? Wow! Cool! A blogging icon he is!

hey perhaps I can join you guys? I am a big fan of the two of you, (batjay and gigi), you know. although i spend most of my free time baby sitting my new born.

Gigi

Hi Mell! Where have you been? I've missed you. :)
I met Batjay and Jet for the first time this past week; they are what they appear (except Batjay doesn't wear women's underwear and stuff really :) ) -- just extraordinarily terrific people. Hey, come join us anytime! You can even teach me how to babysit (because I have absolutely no idea what to do with babies except try not to drop them).

mell

been very busy with the baby and adjusting to going back to work. sometimes I bloghop and baby sit at the same time, but its really tough to type comments when you only have one hand free :D. I was lucky today, the baby slept early, lol. :D i missed you too! :D

Jovs

Hilarious story!!! Medyo may katagalan na itong post na ito pero ngayon ko lang nabasa... at ang laking halakhak! Hi pala Gigi! :) It's good that your hubby has you - the calm one - when he's on the road. When I was younger (ngayon young pa rin) I was a very aggressive and hot-headed driver too - sa Pinas pa yun. No way would I let any bus or jeepney overtake me, mega busina rin as always. Hehe. And then I learned. Di ko yata ninais na madagukan o mabaril ng kapwa ko road-rager noh. *toinks!* Have a good weekend!

Gigi

Hi Jovs - The truth is kaskasera rin ako noon (ask my mom -- I think she'd say the rosary every time she was a passenger while I was driving) -- paano kasi, I was trained by our family driver, an ex-taxi driver. :) But my hubby's something else; sometimes he'll honk at a car and I'll have no idea what the other driver just did.

And thanks for the kind words -- by the way, I really enjoyed reading your blog too (and I like the way your hair came out -- I tried using a curling iron too the other day...palpak. So my hairstylist promised to show me how to use it.)!

  • LISTEN: "Pluto" by Chamsom

    Boong-

I don't have to understand Korean to love this song, although I think it's about a person who was in a rocky relationship that ended but still feels deeply for her former lover and is feeling lonely tonight. "You're like a little star that's far away from me and keeps disappearing." I suppose the title -- Pluto used to be known as the ninth planet from the sun but now isn't even considered one -- might provide a bit more context to the song's meaning. Spotify
