Grandma once said, "You've got to collect and collect -- and then you select." She was talking about choosing a husband out of potential suitors. I thought she was talking about everything else.

And so I did. Boyfriends, schools and majors, jobs, homes. Just for starters.

Then there are things I collect, period: bras (400+ and counting), makeup, nail polish, grammar books.

Interests: art, design, and architecture; beauty and fashion; books and magazines; music; gardening and landscape design. NOT interested in sports, the stock market, cars, or anything with a motor. I've never gone camping and I still can't ride a bike, but I can surf the Internet like (insert awesome surfer analogy here. See previous sentence.)

I laugh easily and loudly and am patient and tolerant, though I am neither regarding anything mean-spirited and malicious. I lean left-of-center and am a lapsed Catholic, but I steer away from social discussions regarding politics and religion. I always hang up clothes that I try on in fitting rooms and return shopping carts to where they belong. Some things you just have to do because you don't want to be the kind of person who doesn't.

"We must be willing to get rid of the life we've planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us."
